Maths 2015

Wal : That problems like 34 + __ = 51 and 51 - 34 = have the same answer.

This week in group 3 we are doing a maths worksheet about subtracting instead of adding. This worksheet was about subtracting instead of adding so this worksheet was difficult, we also had to do different ways of how I worked it out so I can choose which strategy was best for me. We also did work with Mrs B on the interactive board so we could understand it more.  

Maths Basic Facts

This week group 3 & 4 was doing basic facts . I'm doing stage 7 and this stage is about Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentages, Square Roots and Factors. This stage was easy until it came to percentages.  I got 34 out of 40, which means I got 6 wrong which is not good.  

Place Value Football

This game is a place value game and it includes football in it. You get 30 seconds to throw the ball to your other team mate, then you have to answer a place value question to get more points. I think this game is a little bit challenging because you only have 30 seconds to throw the ball to the other player while a person from the other team tries to defend you from throwing the ball to your other team mate. In this game you get 7 points, then every mistake you lose 3. I learnt more about place value playing game. Maths

In group 3 we are working from a Figure It Out book on page 22. This math book is about discussing with a classmate to solve the problem. You and your classmate have to see which strategy is the best to solve the problem. You have to use your strategy to work out the number of offices in these buildings. I think maths is important because it helps you if you are in trouble with your bills and when you have to make important decisions in your life.

Number Sequences

This game is called Number Sequences and it is about adding and subtracting decimals. This game is challenging because when I clicked on the game I didn't understand it, but when my friend Hilda-Rose helped me I understood it.

Spending Splurge

Yesterday we played Spending Splurge, I played with Asiana. This game is about financial literacy. To play the game you need dice, 2-4 players, book and the Spending Splurge paper. I had a total of  $1750 to spend . I bought pen & paper $6 ,a  prepaid Gold Coast theme park ticket $50, handheld computer game $150, snacks for plane $15, suitcase or bag $75, a passport $80, a digital camera,  a present for nana & papa $40 and departure tax $25.  In total I spent $641 and have $1,109 left to spend on food. I learnt to always be careful for what you buy.

Math man Multiplcation

This game is all about timetables. I learnt how to times big numbers to get to the next level. This game is challenging because I don't now my big timetables. The next subject I would like to learn is algebra.
